We recently worked with Dave Johnson and Imperial Home Improvement for the second time, when we completed a master bathroom and guest bathroom remodel this year. I work from home, but the room I use for my office was too small to handle all of my computer equipment. The standard sort of “from-the-store” desks couldn’t make efficient use of my space. We were finishing our basement and were debating whether or not to complete the woodwork ourselves or hire a contractor. In the past, we had less than desirable experiences with contractors and were very leery of working with one again - especially for any work we could complete ourselves. Dave’s name was given to us by a vendor when we were researching the cost of materials for the project. The vendor spoke well of him, so we decided to ask Dave to provide us with a quote for comparison purposes. We found him to very personable and forthright. He immediately had a very good understanding of our project and provided us with several design ideas. The quote was fair, so we decided to take a chance. We were impressed with Dave’s craftsmanship - attention to detail, quality and pride in his work. He was very willing to spend the time to answer our questions and kept us updated on the status of the project. Dave regularly touched base with us to make sure we were satisfied with the work and worked with us when we had concerns or changes. In fact, we expanded the scope a couple of times over the course of the project because of the value we received.

Chris and I enjoyed working with you on our recent home remodel. From the beginning, you were very excited about our project which made us even more excited. You were able to give us ideas for the project that we would never have thought of on our own. We are ecstatic with the way everything turned out! The best feeling is when people come over to see the changes and are so impressed with your work. There were several things that we noticed in regards to working with you that made this remodel process smooth and enjoyable for us. Your organizational skills were wonderful. You were able to provide us with a spreadsheet of exactly what would be done and when. You were always on time, and constantly kept us informed of changes as they arose. You were also very detail orientated which is a very important skill for a contractor to possess. You recognized immediately how important budget was to us and you were very careful to let us know if things were going to cost more than originally expected. You would also inform us of areas where we could save money.

In the design process, you brought several good ideas and gave us options that we had not thought of. Your computer design program was excellent at showing us exactly what things would look like when the project was complete. Using that tool, we were able to really think through placement of walls, appliances and cabinets.

Your professionalism and the professionalism of your subcontractors was very much appreciated by Chris and I both. It can be an uncomfortable feeling to have people in your home that you do not know. Upon getting to know your subcontractors, they were all extremely trustworthy, professional and very nice.

We had only general ideas of what we wanted for our kitchen re-do. Dave helped us finetune those ideas in a way that fit our budget. He gave us really great, practical suggestions. After the planning was done, we left our home in his hands for a week. While we were away, he sent us email updates and photos. When we returned, the kitchen was beautifully tiled, new custom cabinets had been installed, several rooms were painted, crown molding was installed in the dining room, and we had a new faucet. WOW. We are thrilled. His attention to detail is amazing. We can't say enough good things about the entire process. I had water damage to the interior of my town home and asked Dave to give me an estimate. Dave's estimate was more than reasonable for the work that needed to be done, to include: a new kitchen floor, new carpet throughout the entire house, tile work, plumbing, and painting. Dave made this home makeover as painless as it possibly could be, by keeping my house clean during the renovation and keeping the work on schedule. Dave's attention to detail is by far the best I have ever seen.

Last year I bought my first "flip" house and decided to be my own contractor. The only thing that was kept in the house was the kitchen cabinets, other then that, the entire house was gutted and remodeled. I worked with a general contractor whose price, in the beginning, was amazingly cheap. Because the contractor came recommended, I trusted in the fact that he would do good quality work in a timely fashion. Well that was NOT the case. I had a three month deadline for this project and wanted the house on the market the first day of the forth month....Six months later, I was still waiting on this so called "contractor" to complete the work. It was an absolute nightmare! All of my deadlines were pushed back and other contractors had to be rescheduled. Half the time I was lucky to even get a return phone call. So, with my tail between my legs, I called Dave to see if he would "save" me. I explained to Dave my situation and apologized for not offering him the job. Frankly, for this project, I thought Dave's would fit into my budget. That was simply not the case. Dave did come to the rescue and fixed all of the mistakes and incomplete work that the first contractor left behind (after I fired him). After adding up all the money I paid the first contractor, I now realize that hiring Dave initially would have saved me money and months of headaches.

I can not begin to explain how wonderful it is to work with a contractor that answers his phone at all hours of the day, cares about the quality of his work and aims to make his customers happy all in a remarkable timeframe. I can not say enough how impressed I am with Dave's attention to detail in all of the work he does. After Dave completed the work on the house it immediately went on the market and sold in two days. The new couple raved about the work that was done to house...Thanks Dave.

Last year I bought a new home with the intention of doing some remodeling. I had little experience with large scale home remodeling projects. I interviewed and received bids from 3 contractors and I chose Dave because his bid was very reasonable and fair, and included the most detail, plus I could tell Dave really loves what he does for a living and he would put a lot of passion into his work. Dave turned out to be an excellent contractor and I'm very happy I made the choice to work with him. He's is awesome at project management and keeping everything on schedule. he was able to juggle multiple projects and subcontractors at once while keeping everything going at a good pace. He has excellent communication skills, and always kept me informed. When there was a potential issue or decisions had to be made, he presented all the options and provided lots of detail and information to help me make the right choices. I always knew what was going on and when, and I trusted Dave to manage the projects and the many subcontractors who worked on my house. Dave also spent a lot of his time going shopping with me, which I found extremely helpful since I know very little about things like bath fixtures, tiles, etc. I really appreciated the extra attention and time he spent helping me and educating me on all the options. Dave is a stickler for detail and high quality and he is a great problem solver. He has patience and professional maturity. These are all critical traits that are really important when you are doing any kind of home improvement. My husband and I had several projects unfinished in our house. We decided it was time to hire someone to do the remainder of the work rather than do it ourselves. Through a mutual friend we heard about Dave Johnson. We had Dave over to look at our project and give us an estimate for completion.

Dave gave us a fair bid for the work that needed to be done. He also gave us several finishing options for us to consider.

Dave rebuilt our stairs to the basement which included new tread, side trim, handrail and the completion of a transitional wall that was now exposed due to a previous addition. He also installed door trim, baseboards and shoe as well as help us to coordinate the completion of our master bath.

During the project he always communicated what was happening, and if they ran into problems he would call to discuss the problem and what options he felt were viable. A solution was always found and the work continued on schedule. At the onset we were given an approximate time frame for completion. He communicated with us what we needed to do in the way of selections and he kept the crew on track to meet the deadline.
